Barrie neighbourhoods
Barrie has many distinct neighbourhoods, each with its own buyers. We look at your street, not the city average.
Allandale: a quiet residential neighbourhood on the south shore of Kempenfelt Bay with a railway-town history, heritage homes and mature trees. The restored train station is a focal point.
Brock: a walkable, mixed-income area west of the bay, changing from older industrial uses to housing, popular with young families and seniors.
Downtown: Barrie's historic core, with heritage buildings, newer development, shops, cultural venues and waterfront parkland.
The Grove: one of Barrie's earliest residential districts, with historic homes, a quiet family feel and a short walk to downtown.
Queen's Park: a walkable area around one of the city's oldest parks, with historic homes, infill housing and local schools.
West Village: a central residential area just west of downtown, with older homes, local shops and access to the waterfront.

Barrie had a population of 167,176 in 2025, according to the City, which cites Statistics Canada. Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre is at 201 Georgian Drive.
Getting around: Barrie has two GO train stations, Barrie South at 833 Yonge Street and Allandale Waterfront at 24 Essa Road. With a GO ticket or PRESTO card you can ride Barrie Transit free within 30 minutes of GO train times at those stations. (Source: City of Barrie, GO Transit.)
