In August 2026, TRREB reported an average sale price of $898,510 in Mississauga and $667,703 in Barrie, across all home types. These are one-month averages, and the mix of homes sold differs between the two (Mississauga has a different share of condos, townhouses and detached homes), so use them for context, not as a like-for-like comparison. Getting around
Mississauga is not on the Barrie GO line. Check school boards, driving routes and parking for your household.
If you want a basement apartment or other additional unit, the rules differ by municipality. Ontario allows up to three units on a lot as of right in many fully serviced areas, and the City of Barrie allows up to four units per lot in residential zones when zoning standards are met and a building permit is obtained.
